Reese could be considered attractive. His features are a mix between young and older than he really is. Many times he can look years older with weathered features and some wrinkles that are highlighted in some situation. He is tall and slender standing over six feet tall. His hair is mostly black but the ends are starting to turn gray creating a sort of salt and pepper look. His eyes are a pale blue though sometime they turn a light green in some light. They are the most aged part of Reese. They show his years and sorrow.
When it comes to his clothing style he almost always wears a suit. For the most part it is the easiest way to hide in plain sight. (After all after seven years in the CIA it has become habit). When not wearing a suit he had been known to lean toward leather jackets, and even then he pulls of a aura of “fanciness”. He never wears t-shirts though. And he keeps his facial hair nice and trimmed. He doesn’t look threatening most of the time and it is easy to think him as harmless or even inadequate. He hides his muscle under his fancy suites. As well as several scars. Some bullet wounds and many other injuries- to many to count.

Reese is not a trusting man. He has only ever trusted a few people in his life and all of those people have betrayed his trust. He is better off on his own. His attitude toward everything is that he can take care of himself and doesn’t need anyone else to help him. He had been on his own pretty much his whole life and its easier that way. If there is no one you care about then there is no one for you too loss, or anyone to miss you when you’re gone. He has no one he cares about, no family, no friends. No one to tie him to the world and little reason to live. Except for one reason. To help people. It has been his life to save people. As a soldier protecting his country from evil. Trying to save as many people as he can. Though he realized too late that while he could save hundreds of people it didn’t matter if he couldn’t save the ones that mattered.
Reese never shares anything about himself. He likes it best when he is a ghost just a person standing on the side of the road that no one pays any attention to. This is where he works best. He is a master at surveillance and is able to read just about anyone. He knows how to get into people’s lives without them knowing it. When he wants to be he can be brutal though he rarely shows more emotion than he has to and has this air of calm around him at all times. He isn’t much of a talker though he is good at getting other people to talk by making them feel comfortable. It is easy to want to trust him and in some cases you should and in others you shouldn’t it just depends on what side of the fence you are one. That is one thing that is for sure about John Reese he does what is right even if his methods aren’t always the most legal. He has a good heart though he doesn’t see himself as good. He won’t kill unless he has to, normally turning people over to the police to let the system do its thing. No matter if the government betrayed him or not he is still loyal to it and will do anything he can to protect its people. Any good person as a matter of fact. And he is willing to sacrifice himself to do it. Many might even call him arrogant in his belief in his abilities he just calls himself good at what he does.

Reese’s story starts out when Twenty five year old Marine Jackson Ryans meet 22 year old army Nurse Leanore Patterson when he was injured while fighting in the Vietnam war. Leanore took care of Jack who was suffering from several gunshot wounds for several months and by the time Jack was ready to go back to combat the two had fallen in love. They kept in contact for the next year and two year after meeting they got married. A year later Leanore announced that she was pregnant and was removed from her post in Vietnam and stationed state side. Jack however continued serving. Leanore gave birth to Johnathan nine months later. Things went smoothly for a year and in 1970 Jack was granted leave went home to meet his son for the first time. The family lived happily and just over a year later Leanore found she was pregnant yet again. This time Jackson was there for their daughter Linda’s birth and it seemed things were going smoothly. However in 1974 Jack was called into active duty again and as things got worse they also called Leanore back to help with the wounded leaving her five year old son, and three year old daughter. Neither of the children was old enough to understand what was going on only that they now felt alone. They moved in with their grandparents (Leanore’s parents since Jack’s parents had died when he was a teenager.) A year later news came that Leanore had been killed in an attack on the medical facility. While Linda barely remembered her mother six year old Johnathan was crushed by the news.
To make things worse Jack was unable to come home even after the news of his wives death came his way. He was forced to stay until 1975 when they lost the war leaving his children alone for over a year. Leanore’s parents were crushed by the loss of their daughter as well and began fighting the government in protests against the war. This left John and Linda alone for most the time with baby sisters and around the time John was 7 they didn’t even bother hiring a baby sitter. This meant that seven year old Johnathan took care of five year old Linda. When Jackson returned he wasn’t the same man Johnathan barely knew. He ran his house like it was military school, that was when he was there. He moved the family from Upstate New York where they had lived their whole life and moved to a base in Colorado. He lived with his children for six months there before being deployed again, luckily this time not to a war zone. Jack hired a nanny who became the Ryans' children’s surrogate mom for the next two years. In school John was no one special and never really got along with many of the other children. Mostly he kept to himself playing alone in the play ground or for the few years that they’re grades intercepted played with Linda during recess. When John was nine years old his father came back and uprooted his family again and moved them all to California. This time was he stuck around for three years working a “drill sergeant” at boot camp. This made his children’s lived ten times worse as he brought his work home with him expected everything to be in tip top shape. The two kids quickly learned to be clean and tidy though nothing was ever good enough for him.
After three years Jack deployed again and this time sent his children off to boarding school. Johnathan to military school and Linda an all girls boarding school. This is where the two stayed for the rest of their education only coming home every other Christmas. Linda and Johnathan kept in contact with letters though they were never as close as they used to be. Johnathan took to the solitary life with stride. He always did what he had to to survive. He stayed to himself not making many friends and mostly focused on him studies and other responsibilities. He wasn’t the smartest kid around though he got by with above average grades and everyone pretty much liked him. When he was fifteen years old word came to him that his grandparents had died in a car crash. He started to feel more and more alone even though he hadn’t seen them since he was seven, but pushed through like any good soldier would. When he turned 18 he went to college on a ROTC scholarship. He graduated four years later with a degree in psychology and went right into the army following in his father’s footsteps. And for the first time in his life Jack was proud of his son. Seeing this Linda quit college two years in and joined the Army herself. John was not happy about this but kept his concerns to himself.
All three Ryans' were sent out to the Gulf War. Things were going to smoothly but then Linda’s plane was shot down and things fell apart. She died on contact and though it took a while for the news to reach John. Jack learned of the death almost immediately and took it hard. His guilt proved fatal and the next day he himself was killed in a raid. John didn’t learn of the deaths until almost a week later since he had been sent on a special mission working with the Special Forces. When he learned he had just lost the rest of his family he had left he almost lost it. But years of living in military school forced him to go on without blinking an eye. He was a soldier. He joined the Special Forces as soon as he could and begun his training. His life from there on out surrounded the Special Forces and his job. Already having many of skills needed Ryans blended right into the life performing covert and not so covert operation around the world. He learned several languages including Russian and Pashto and other native Afghanistan languages. He also learned the not to desired art of interrogation which included torture techniques.
Things went on for the next eight or so years as Johnathan perfected his skills. Then everything changed when on a forty-eight hour leave he meet a woman Jessica Arnet. The two had an automatic connect. John knew that he was in love on their first date. She was the first person that could tie him to this world and for the first time in his life he didn’t care. They carried out a long distance relationship for a couple of months before Johnston got a month off. Things quickly accelerated and by the end of it Jessica knew she was in love with John. Six months after meeting John got a week off and took Jessica down to Mexico. If Jessica wanted he was prepared to quit his job so that he could be there for her all the time. He had lived his life alone and watched his father die alone and he was not ready to die the same way. However everything changed as it just so happened the date was September 11th, 2001. Everything was unraveled and Johnston was quickly shipped off to defend his country. As much as he loved Jessica he loved his country just as much. It had been the only thing that he had cared about for a long time and he couldn’t just through that away. It was in Operation Defending Freedom that Johnston had his first prolonged encounter with the CIA. They offered him a job right away when they saw what he could do but he declined.
In 2002 Johnathan broke things off with Jessica knowing that they could never be together and that sooner or later he was going to be killed and he didn’t want to hurt her that way. He wanted to give her a chance to be happy given if it couldn’t be with him. Two years later the CIA approached him again and this time he accepted and moved into the world of espionage. He left his old name behind and was given the name Mr. Reese- by his first and only handler/partner. He adjusted quickly to the life of a spy though he quickly realized that as a Green Beretta there was a line between the “enemy zone” but in this job there was no line. A year after joining the CIA Reese was captured by Taliban operatives. He was held captive for three days and for sixteen hours straight was tortured with electricity. All they wanted was his name but he never spoke a word no matter how much they hurt him. Just before they were going to kill him he was saved.
Reese went on with his job doing unspeakable things. He killed more men then he would like to think he did and preformed several assassinations. In 2010 things changed again. The government that Reese had given his whole life to betrayed him. He and Clara were sent on mission to China to retrieve a a "package". Before leaving, however, he was told that Clara had been compromised and was selling information to their enemies. His boss told John to kill her before they were extracted since it was his mess to clean up. He should have known. Should have stopped it. The mission went smoothly and and as darkness fell the two lit beacons for the extraction team to find them. It was time to kill Clara. But he found he couldn't. He had gone he's whole life doing what he was told, and not asking questions but this was he's partner. This hesitation proved to be near fatal though. Clara had been told the same thing and did not hesitate. She shot him in the stomach. It was then that Reese realized what was really going on. The CIA didn't expect them to make it out alive. They had been sent there to make sure the package was there and the n have it destroyed. The beacons weren't for an extraction team but an airstrike. Even wounded Reese made a run for it. And made it. Just barely but he made it out. And then did the only thing he knew he could. Disappear. It was during this time that he learned that not two days before he went to China Jessica was killed. She had called him but he had refused to call her back. Had refused to see what was wrong. After spending a month or so in Asia he returned to the United States and after six months of bouncing around he returned to New York. The place he spent his first seven years. And though he had stashed a few million dollar in funds over the years he avoided the money. He needed to be punished. For everything. Jessica’s death. His partners murder. His inability to do anything. For the next year he lived in the city as a drunken hobo wishing to die. Near the end of that time he was starting to consider more efficient ways of killing himself. That was until he noticed something. A man who wasn’t acting right. Maybe he was being paranoid, or maybe he was picking up on things that he had lived his whole life seeing. He followed the guy and when he tried to snatch a child from the street Reese realized that he wasn’t being paranoid. He of course intervened saving the child. And everything changed again. He realized that there were still things he could do. There were always bad guys that could be stopped. Reese started with easy targets following none mob members and such. Reese of course tried not to kill people and instead turned them over to the police whenever he could.

The sun was just starting to set beyond the horizon when John Reese stepped out of the hotel room. He glanced from one side to another in a discrete fashion as he pulled his black jacket tighter over his plan black suit. Popping the collar to cover his neck Reese moved passed a half frozen swimming poll with a very lacking fence around it. The entrance to the poll had a sign that stated the area was closed for the winter, but it was clear that anyone that wished to swim, or whatever else one would want to do in the cold, dirty water, all they would have to do was jump the low fence, or crawl through one of the many holes it possessed. That fact was quite troubling and Reese truly worried what would happen if a young child stumbled through the fence. But there was no denying that flea bag motels such as these were one of the reason Reese was able to stay anonymous. And calling the police's attention to such locations was not a good idea. He always paid cash but when the city was on high alert searching for a vigilante someone was sure to put the pieces together. He had seen, worse, after all. And luckily in the three days he had spent in this dumb he had only seen one small child, a baby who seemed to be only a few months old. It broke John's heart when he watched the young mother check into the hotel, tears stained her face. Reese understood the look in her eye better than anyone else. He knew there was nothing he could do for her. Well almost nothing. When the infant's crying got one of the other “full-time tenants” to threaten to get her thrown out on the street John had stepped in. He used his own form of threats to make sure the man let the woman and baby stay in the room as long as she needed to. Reese even made sure the man would make sure the others in the motel would leave the child alone. Reese of course understood that that meant it was time for him to back up and move on.
Moving from place to place was not new to John Reese. Even before joining the army he had been used to it. And his time in the Army and CIA only hardened his ability to change locations when needed. When he had first gotten back to the states in 2011 John had become homeless. He had no reason to need a home. But after he started helping people he began staying in motels. He needed a place to keep himself right as well as store some weapons for easy access. Most of his weapons he kept in a storage locker or even at the headquarters with his new boss, however, since a motel wasn't exactly secure. He never stayed in one place longer than a week though. He couldn't risk becoming predictable. Or noticeable. Of course on the second part he had broken one rule. Animals were always a bad idea. Especially dogs. They drew attention and in a situation when you could normally not forgotten in a crowd they made you memorable. When Reese had run across the poor ex-military Belgian Malinois Shepard being miss treated by the Aryans he couldn't just leave him. There was a sort of familiarity he shared with the dog. Both had been trained to attack and even kill on command without asking questions. With out a choice. But they had a choice now. They could be who the wanted and John was not going to let the dog be forced to do more bad things. Bear, as he had named him, was a very sweet animal. And very well trained. And though a man in a suit with a dog was a lot more noticeable than just a man in a suit he couldn't just leave him. Half the time Reese left the animal at HQ while he worked. But since the last two days had been slow Reese and Bear had been partners. To anyone on the street passing him he was nothing more than a business man with a dog. A good enough cover for him.
As Reese moved into the flow of people along the street he realized that it was approaching dinner time and he had not yet eaten that day. And though he was more than accustomed to going days, even weeks, with out food he also knew if there was no reason to not eat then it was a good idea. It kept his strength up and made sure his full attention was at the task at hand. Adjusting the backpack he had slung over his back he figured he could grab a sub at some deli and take Bear to the park for a game of catch. The dog had after all spent most the day with nothing to do. As John walked passed a foot patrol officer he suddenly felt the weight of the backpack on his back. He knew gave any signs of fear or unease but he couldn't help but deny that now would be a bad time to draw attention to himself. Along with the normal 9mm he had in the back of his waistband and lock pick in his front pocket, in his bag he another 9mm, a few flash grenades, three spare cell phones, high tech binoculars, and a few other surveillance devices; enough to get him put away for life with out even knowing who or what he had already done. Covering those items were two white dress shirts and a spare pair of pants. And that was all John Reese owned. It wasn't much, but it was all he needed. He would buy more shirts when he needed them. Of course he always went through them so fast it didn't seem to matter.
Reese had been walking for some time when out of the corner of his eye he saw something. To most it wouldn't have been anything. Just a man leaning on a pole on the other side of the street. But Reese saw the world differently than most. He saw the intent in people. The evil. And the good. And that man was planning something. Even from a distance John was able to follow the man's line of sight to a woman that had just stopped a few meters ahead of the man. When the woman began to move again he pace was much faster. People, especially women, normally had a very good instinct on things like this. She hadn't made it far, however, before the man closed the distance between the two of them. He had smells her fear and knew he had to act. Reese watched as the man grasped the woman's should roughly. He seemed to speak to her but Reese was to far to hear what he said. It didn't matter though, John knew what was going on. She was being robbed. Before he could even think of reasons not to intervene Reese had broken into a sprint and in seconds he had crossed the street. Releasing Bear's leash John muttered, “Blijven” stay just loud enough that the dog could hear him and get the message. Though he was as capable as any to stop the robber Reese did not want the dog to get hurt. Bear, of course, followed orders though he turned in circles nervously, even gave a sharp bark here and there. John made it to the man before the woman could find her wallet. With out even hesitating he grabbed the hand that was holding Gabby's should. Before the robber could even react John twisted the arm behind is back roughly. The robber wasn't going to give up that easily, though, and he reached into his pocket obviously searching for something. A knife was the most likely. Reese didn't give him a chance to find it. He quickly sent several punches the man's way. When the man tried to fight back Reese was able to block him with little trouble and on the third attempt he grabbed the man's wrist. This time he twisted, while at the same time he swept his foot underneath the attackers causing him to fall hard to the ground. The wind was obviously knocked out of his lungs and he sat there for several moments trying to regain his composer. Then he began to stumble to his feet. John simply stood and watched as he succeeded. His hands hoovered over his pocket as if he were going to go for the knife again. “Really.” Reese's voice was completely calm. The words seemed to make the man change his mind and he quickly turned and ran. This job was obviously to much trouble for him. Taking in a deep breath Reese turned toward the woman, “Are you alright?”
